Mastermind Meets The Dolmar 7900

Mike Lee is known for building a stout 7900. I'm still learning them.......but I've build some that pinned my ears back.

I'll share my way, and hope Mike Lee, and Carl Miller will be along to share some of their ideas.

This is a saw I did a few weeks ago.....





Oh........where did that come from. That ain't a Dolmar.

I like to add some compression, so the first thing I do is cut the squish band. To do that, I use this setup. Dead simple.....



A pivot point helps a lot.

Gotta have a independently adjustable 4 jaw chuck....

And a long reach lever type indicator....



A little trick I've found......

Once I figure out where I what to indicate the upper end, I make a mark on the ways......then I just go back to it.



Same thing at the other end.

I'm not a big fan of taking too much out of the lowers, but on these saws all the "normal" stuff flies out the window. I'd love to hear some other guys thoughts on this.

I just did a 7910 jug on a Solo 681 at 97/125/82.

It's my best runner yet.
