Just aquired a Jonsered 630 super along with a new loop of Oregon chain for $20.
Its my understanding it shares pieces/parts with some model Huskys. Which models? My interwebz searches have been vague and fuzzy in that aspect.
We dont have any dealer support here for J-reds, and the local Husky shop told me they never made a 268xp when I needed parts for mine...
It starts, races and dies. Kill switch is gone. Going to tear it down, replace lines, carb kit, etc. So any info as to what model husky it shares parts with would be great.
Also, whats the switch under where the kill switch is? Cant find any reference to it in user manual I found online.

630 is really it's own baby, yes it shared a lot of parts with the 61,266,268,272 huskys and 625,630,670 jonsereds but husky never made a closed port 60cc saw in that chassis. It's a strong 60cc saw for sure a little heavy but not bad.
You know what never mind, this saw sucks send it to me I'll give you $50 plus shipping!
Great saw, great price!

Thanks! That helps. First thing I noticed when I picked it up, it was pretty much like my 268xp.
I was wondering if I would get told it was a p.o.s. It's my first J-red, so I will probably keep it!
I think it will clean up pretty good too, it's not too beat up, just dirty.

I'll triple your money on it? Good saws, parts are little more scarce for the Jonsered's than the Husqvarnas. It should perform close to your 268.

Keep the saw for sure, and @Stump Shot could probably tell you a little more about it.

Thanks again!
I was thinking the switch was for a heated handle, but didn't tear into it yet.
As of now, the only broken part I found was the missing kill switch.
I will tear into it after I get done with a friend's 028.

I was going to press/vac test, and if that's good, stuff a carb kit, fuel line and filter, air filter, and the kill switch and run it a bit before doing anything else.
My biggest hurdle is Jonsered and Dolmar are unfamiliar to me, and local dealer support is zero on them, so getting info from you guys is the only way I can get it.

As of now, due to it being my first and only Red, my CAD is telling me to keep it and let it eat some wood!

Actually they did, it was the very first saw on the chassis, the 162 SE. The 162 and the 630 JRed share the same piston, cylinder, and intake block.

That cant be correct, can it?

As far as the RPM's go, 630's spin up to 13,000. (12,500 for the 625's and 13,500 for the 670's.)

V models in nice shape are pretty rare. You got yourself a nice project there. :)

I got lucky on this one. Other than dirt, grime and cobwebs, it's in real good condition.
