I had 3 390's break just like that.

220lb compression and no ignition advance. I had one break the muffler flange off also. I won't port a 390 anymore

I've heard the 461 will also.

This one was breaking starter pawls......then this.

Too much advance in the coil. Different coil.......no more trouble.

I've not had starter pawl trouble but after the first one I quit advancing the ignition and still had 2 more do it.

The ones I've had took a couple months.

How long did that one run randy?

A little more jb weld and it will fit that 441 lower end .

The first play 390 I built only lasted a few tanks before it blew the cylinder off.

I run em about 200psi and 6-8° advanced.

I have seen that happen, a hot tight chain cools and makes it hard on it.
