Or a harmonic balancer puller.

Seems you are right. Looks like @Fruecrue may have a diffrent style of flywheel that has 2 puller holes. Mine has three separated by 120 degrees. Guess it' time to bite the bullet and finally buy one.

Managed to bust the clutch off. Pulled the oiler off and it seems like the seal is in really good shape. Torn whether to replace it or not

On a saw that old there's no way I'd tear it down and not replace a seal.

Seals should be at the house today and I should have time to get them in tonight.

I assume the clutch side seal is installed in the oil pump? Flush with the back mating surface?

I also assume there are no seal stops anyways. How far out do you guys typically leave the flywheel side? mm or two above flush?

Seals didn't show, but I got the flywheel off. It was a good pull but the harmonic balancer and 3 carb bolts with an assortment of washers and nuts do the trick

The kill switch wire insulation is frayed a bit on the coil. What's the thought on this? Liquid electrcal tape? I tried pulling the flywheel on the parts saw to see what that coil is like but it wouldn't pop. Have it soaking in penetrating fluid now.

Here is the cleaned up flywheel side case. Looks pretty good. Bit of paint loss but I am not concerned.

Well I may have accidentally screwed up the spare coil. Put the screws into the flywheel too far and when tightening the puller it sound a bit and marred up the coil. Think it's worthless now?

Wouldn't mind running 3/8 chain on this saw as everything else I run is 3/8. Does Any husqvarna saw run a 3/8 8 pin? All i can find is 7 pin, unless its some chinese crap on ebay

Nevermind. Found the Oregon part number. Also found a 8 pin 3/8 in the box of goods from t.roller as well so that's that solved.

Still waiting on some o rings and gaskets to start buttoning it up

I know the topic has been beaten before, but I am trying to decide block off the governor or not. Anybody watching this thread have any opinions?

Also, has anyone had any experience with base gasket deletes with no grinding? Should be room in the squish, just wondering if things drop too much port wise?

Got my parts from the Husky dealer today.

However I was charged for a dust cover for the oil pump and never got one, didnt realize until I got home. Now the Husqvarna canada ordering site is saying they are N/A. What exactly is the dust cover? Does it go between the bearing and the oil pump? or the oil pump and the case? Neither of my saws seemed to have one.

@Onan18 is there any chance you can see if you can order the dust cover? part number 501 29 25-01

Same oiler drive parts as a 288. I think I've even used a 394/5 oil pump drive in one before.
