Ok everyone here's a little bit of information for you all on how to trim the limiters on your chainsaw carburetor.
Here's the tools of the trade...

Now pick the saw and start taking it apart. You may or may not have to remove the airfilter but in this situation I needed to.
IMG_1562.JPG Now remove the rubber piece to expose the tuning screws and limiters.

Now if you can use a fine threaded Sheetrock screw to screw into the plastic tuning screws a pull them off. In this case I didn't need to I used my knife and removed the limiters and filed it smooth.

There's two limiters on this carb to remove. Remove them both put it back together, tune and go cut some wood!

The method I use: Clamp a razor blade in a pair of small vice grips. Heat the razor with a propane torch, trim the tabs like butter. You will have to re-heat the razor blade a few times to complete the task but it works very smooth and effortlessly. Can be done with the jets still in the carb but having the carb out of the saw is recommended.

I just use a allen wrench and force the tabs past the limiters.

Edit: I cant remember the size now, maybe 1.5 mm?

You have to line up the tab with the slot to pull the limiters. On Stihl 440, 460, 660 after you start the sheet rock screw, go all the way counter clockwise to line up the Hi tab, and 1/4 turn counter clockwise to line up the Lo tab.

They are very hard to remove if you don't line up the tab with the slot.

I just trim the tabs with a razor knife, they come right off (often just one swipe, sometimes more).

Yes Mike, they are buried and a giant beoch to remove.

I like that 360PRO Chris. One of my favorite saws. Wake up nicely. Good thread.
