Maybe my search abilities are failing, but I didn't notice a thread for good deals on chainsaws. I saw one for tools, but chainsaws are more then just a wrench to this mechanic...

Hoping this will be a thread of celebrating with others and not a bragging thread. I am just overjoyed at the good deals I have found this spring cleaning in Alaska.

First was a ms200t that wouldn't idle right. A reputable shop had diagnosed it with a scored piston. Got it home, cleaned it up, reassembled it and did a compression test. 170psi..... Fueled it and it fired right up. Richened up the L circuit and a touch on the H circuit and it ran great. Best $100 I have ever spent. Sent it to my uncle in Missouri to tear down a barn.

Last night I picked up the next project. No pictures yet due to the dust that needs cleaned off, but it is a Jonsered 2095 that was overheated on a mill. Just so happens I have an extra top end from my other project 2095 (which is running and in the picture). $50 and everything is there but a kill switch, clutch cover, and clutch.... I think.

Sounds good to me, I paid that for my 2159 which was definitely not a legend saw

This was my good deal this year. Was at dealer to pick up parts and came home with two saws for $50.

All cleaned up.

Had to buy a chain break handle. $12 shipped on ebay. Total cost was $62. Pretty cheap saw. Havt got a bar an chain yet but can swap with other 353.

Not too ugly.... Its just the different oranges.... Guess I like red better :) has a fresh top end?

If I hadn't just bought the 200t and 2095, the 359 would be home with me....

The few times I've scoped out Craigs and Alaskaslist.com the asking prices were rather high. More than a few times outrageous for what people had. You ran across folks in really good moods.

Pretty insane prices on most, especially Stihls. If I was looking for a Stihl, I would buy a new one---at least up here

I typically hesitate to disclose prices in the event I want to sell something, but these are some of my keepers so it doesn't matter.

Poulan 5200 -$25.00 - just needed a kill switch
Stihl MS200T - $35.00 - great runner
Stihl 026 - $45.00 - clean and a great runner
Stihl 044 - $100.00 - runs great
Stihl MS 460 - $130.00 - runs great
Poulan 5200 bow saw - $85.00 - been to 10+ GTG's

Etc...
