Finally got that brake assembly installed & working ... almost as bad a doing a carb!

Stole a bar adjustment setup from a crushed MS460, works well, but the metal plate will have to be drilled out a bit as the adjustment screw from the 460 is a larger diameter.

Also installed a pair of MS460 bar studs. They are a bit longer and have thicker bosses. Had a new one, and pulled the non broken one from the crushed MS460. I like them much better than the standard ones.

Also got my Triple Port Muffler finished, but all the ports are all on the same side. I reversed the direction of that little deflector (the middle hole) to keep the heat away from the Chain Brake.

Got the handle on, and the coil in. Also took a good pic of my 460 bar studs.

Just gotta install the carb and handle, and I'll be waiting for my new seal before i fire it up!

Getting that wire grommet through the case was a PITA!

Seal S/B here on Wed.

We are in the home stretch!

This is my OEM 066 with the Cross MMWS P&C. I'm hoping the Flying Tiger will be even stronger, but if it is dead even I won't be disappointed!

Put the carb on last night. What usually takes me less than 5 min took almost 1/2 hour. Nothing fits quite right.

The metal insert does not want to stay in the intake boot.

The carb does not want to slide over the studs.

The impulse nipple missed the impulse line.

The fuel line did not want to go on the carb, and when it did, it was too long and kinked, so off it came and was shortened.

The plastic shroud did not want to fit on the case.

The metal doohickey did not want to fit in the plastic.

Everything had to be forced to get the nuts to start.

But, I GOT IT DONE!!!!

Just waiting on a replacement seal (clutch side), removed the bad one today. New one should be here Wed, then I can add the oiler & clutch. Also have and HD-2 filter on order, and a Elastostart rope & handle.

As soon as the parts arrive, we should be good to go. It is even starting to look like a saw!

Possibly a stupid suggestion, but I'd much like a (if needed temporary) subforum just for all these AM 660 build threads.
Just like the chainsaw sub themes on top of the Chainsaw forum.
It would put these build threads closer together and make them easier to locate.

Admins, mods, members - what do You guys think?

@Gentleman
@Mastermind

Just a thought. :)

Those white am filters flow much better than the HD 2

I just recently did a test and the HD-2 cut a bit faster than the AM.

What are you basing your statement on???
Tests from a few guys here that all liked the white filter. Why are you always so defensive to others statements?

Not defensive, just asked a question. I'm always trying to learn.

I hope you didn't take any of the comments I made in your build thread seriously, I was just funnin around.

I'm looking forward to your build.

I guess in answer to your question, I'm a retired Audit Manager/Certified Fraud Examiner. I always want to know what opinions are based upon. I guess I was just trained NOT to go by just what someone says. Did not mean it to be offensive, I'm just searching for information.

Well I can't remember exactly who has ran them but a few members claimed they flow better. You're not at work here so leave that crap at work. I don't see the point of putting a $30 air filter on a $200 saw but if that's what you want hey by all means do it. Just trying to help folks out.
