Spinning more firewood to useful stuffs. The mallet is from an ash tree we had in our back yard. Has a bunch of figure in it so I pulled some splits. Maybe I should start selling some?!

How much for a handle like that ? I have the same shovel but was going to use conduit for handle.
Yours looks better. Let me know I'd buy one.

If your wanting it for a cane or something other than the shovel handle, I could make it a little different and try for max length and a more straight design instead of the larger rear. LMK how ya want one and I can alter it a little. Or I can send as is. LMK.

Brian, I just got finished roughing out a huge pile of firewood to usable chunks.

I didn't forget, just been super busy. I'm hoping to get you the longest piece possible. I also bought my own lathe but haven't set it up yet. I don't want to end the time spent with my dad turning projects. Of which, this is my latest.

Very nice. I feel guilty every time they tell me to cut up the walnut and cherry into firewood. Dad says he has enough stacked in the old corn crib for a lifetime. Not enough time to mill it and try to sell slabs. We still have two truckloads of oak planks we are working through. Doesn't everyone build concrete forms out of red and white oak?

Heck, sell the walnut in log form. It pays well! I'd really like to have a few chunks-o-cherry. I hear it turns well. And I really want to get into some apple.
Short on my project list is to make a checker board blank with walnut and maple to turn.

Somewhere around here I saw a chess set with the machined nickeled and brass chess pieces made from hacked up spent casings. Looked really nice.

Looking at your maple pictures, Looks like I shouldn't have burnt up that wavy oak too. Can't save it all. I suggested selling the walnut logs and even had cut them at 9' and piled them at the shop. Dad got tired of working around them and told me to convert them to firewood. Filled up the back of a 10ton dump stacked.

Keith, I was looking at bowl blanks online. $20 for a piece of walnut 2"thick, 8"x8"!! You need to take matters into your own hands!!
