You forgot to list Echo CS-670. That's what I use. On occasion, I move the 28" bar to my Makita 6401 with a BBK. Both pull it very well and so does my Stjhl 046 Mag. I just use a simple shop-made bar adapter for the Echo and the Makita:If you were selecting a saw that would solely run a 28" bar, which powerhead would you pick and why?
I decided not to make a poll, I'll just tally responses and post them in a first post edit, as I'm sure people will have many selections.
Aaaaaaaand GO!

McCulloch 5700 or the older 610. On command, both can pull a 28" bar as shown here. I was rather amazed at how well they did it. These were big logs, at least 26" dia.
You have some of those slow @rattler saws too?I’m gonna vote:
Or:
Me too. 2/3Hell yeah! Love my @rattler saws too

My sp81 feals really close to my ms460r for weight, the later chain break model would be heavier, but not crazy, the old bars seem to be a major problem for weight too, they are fatter in the belly...just what I noticed anyway, I need to put mine on the scales!Lol. I will definitely agree with you the bar's are definitely heavy. I brought a 610 back to life a year ago and I was really hesitant on getting rid of it but it was Christmas and my friend needed a saw so I saprised him after taking a tree down for him and handed it to him and said marry Christmas. My sp81 feals really close to my ms460r for weight, the later chain break model would be heavier, but not crazy, the old bars seem to be a major problem for weight too, they are fatter in the belly...just what I noticed anyway, I need to put mine on the scales!

I'd say it would do fine but a bit bulky for a 28" I'd sayNo love for Dolmar/Makita PS-9000/9010?
I don't have one, so I can't comment on how they behave set up with a 28" B&C.
