I had my 28” on my 372 for a while and it balanced and cut great. Only shortfall is my 372 Oiler is a bit stingy for that length. So, I put it back where it belongs until I mod the oiler...on the 288.

I had a 28” with 8 pin on my old xpw and it oiled like Exxon Valdez. Maybe something was up with your oiler? My definition of stingy oiler is when you lift up the drivers and don’t see oil in there and the chain keeps tightening up.

The 371 @rattler did for me is the most versatile saw I have. It’s pulled 20, 24, 28, and 32 bars well and without complaining...it’d be my one saw plan if I had to have just one. Lol..but where’s the fun in one saw? I leave the 371 with a 24 and 28s on the 288 and 390....they gotta have something to do, right?

My 71’s oil a 28” and 32” just fine

With all of your collective experience I wonder if the Oiler on my X-Torq saw is the problem. I don’t have an XT top end on it anymore, switched to a 75cc, but everything else is as it came brand new in 2014. Hmmmmmm

390 oils really well. I thought they used the same oiler?

I noticed the later oilers have the metal tang driver similar to some stihl’s. The early style have a all plastic wheel. I think the 385/390 wheel is deeper for the different pto side seal setup. The oiler is the same I believe, except I found early 371/372 oilers do not have the 3rd bolt hole to mount on 385/390. I found this out trying to fit one to a 385.

So it’s likely that just my saw has the problem. More to follow.
May be just some saw dust stuck in filter or hose ? Maybe try cleaning out the pump first, then add new bar oil and see.
Angelo c taught me that with my 036. I thought I had a bad worm gear, but he cleaned it out then it worked perfect. [emoji106]

Good advice, start simple. I was already gearing up to tear it apart and mod it the way I need to mod my 357 pump...lol!

I'd say it would do fine but a bit bulky for a 28" I'd say
Large frame Huskys have been listed, I just thought the Dolmar PS-9000/9010 would find a spot as well.

Are the big Huskys smaller in PH size than the large Dolly?

Perhaps the most popular saw not included on the list is the Stihl MS660 or perhaps the vintage 064 AV or 066 Magnum:
Stihl 064 AV.jpg
The above 064 AV pulls a 28" bar and chain as if it were salt water taffy. I have strongly considered dedicating my 28" bar to it. The original owner shackled it with a little 2o" bar before he sold it to me. The saw never had a chance to show what it could do.
