Does it take the "shine" off of plastic? I've had purple power take the shine off of Stihl plastic. If it doesn't I'll be trying it for sure.
On most of what I work on their isn't any shine left lol you can take a little wax and try that I think it would work good.

I've used "purple power" which you can find near the automotive section in walmart. It's a very good degreaser. Being a degreaser, it also removes gummy, sticky things, like pine tar sap.
This Zep purple stuff looks like it works really well.

You have to read the labels carefully. Not all "purple" cleaners are the same. This Zep one contains sodium hydroxide (lye) which is what cuts the grease, but can darken or damage aluminum. Similar to 'Super Clean'.

WD-40 Industrial has a new degrease which contains potassium hydroxide, which they claim is safe on aluminum. Have not tried it yet.

I bet that stuff would be good for gunked up chains and sap stained bars. The caustic cleaners work are very effective compared to simple green etc. Literally dissolves gum and does the hard work itself and you rinse it off. The caustic spray I used to get from Solo was incredible, a quick spray and rinse on a sap filthy chain would turn it into a shiny gleaming chain that with rivets as smooth as new. But care needs to be taken, eye protection, lots of holding your breath and plenty of water to neutralise it when done.

It's what I use for chains, along with an old toothbrush:
Clean.
Rinse.
Oven dry.
Sharpen / repair.
Re-lube with WD-40.
Happy chain!

I don't use a spray bottle, because I don't want to aerosolize it. I like it much better than organic solvent degreasers.
