Well brother, I give you mega props for doing the things you do with that program. We need more people willing to do community outreach.
Unfortunately, not every officer's experience is the same as that one from Pittsburgh. Not saying that it's all doom and gloom, but it is what it is.

Here's some of my young homies we had a carwash for at the school to help them raise money to go to an amusement park (kennywood). They aren't dumb, they just have a bunch of cards stacked against them. If one makes it in life it was worth it. People are losing sight of things.

I get that as I have no badge or authority, nor much company support. I drive a city bus and my only real tool is reading a situation and applying respect in a way that is strong but not completely uncaring. Listening to folks, real bad guys and all, and choosing what I say carefully has kept me alive so far. Mouth and attitude can go a long way when properly applied. Often better than threats of force. Demanding respect in return is often not necessary as it is generally given, even if reluctantly. Ive been doing this for 29 years now, I hope to make it 30 +.

Its gonna really get cooking after the election, and we all know it. Hopefully the rains keep things less active. Yeah, a boarded up business district and graffiti everywhere and constantly being added is kinda a lesser quality of life issue? Property crime going completely ignored as the police have been directed by our mayor is just a wee bit less than ideal. And our very taxish govenor seems to be of the same mind as our mayor.
