iIused to show our collection of antique tractors. It wasn't to bad when my dad was alive and healthy as he would chain and bind the tractors to the trailer and once at the show are he would unchain them while I put the chains away. Crazy chains & binders left laying on the trailers were prime to walk off.
I did a few shows after dads health went south but after he passed I just quit taking them.

I decided I would like a old car or a truck and when My mother in laws 1985 Buick LeSabre Collectors Edition became a garage queen in 2010 I started asking mom to sell it to me.
Finally in August 2016 she relented and I got a car I have lusted over since I first saw it when it was 3 days old to Mom.

It was not in factory show room condition any longer the paint was old pitted, faded and cracked with a bit of surface rust here and there.

It was worked on the whole summer of 2017 to get the cruise working again, changeing over the AC from R12 to R134 and chaseing he over heatting issues flushes, new hoses, anti freeze and finally a new clutch fan clutch. A set of new front tires because the ones on it despite great tread had steel belts that had shifted.

Then Oct 2017 it was left at the painters shop. Love the work done anly thing is I had left it there not going to check on it till January when I needed thr power antena to replace the cable that raises it and lowers it. I was supposed to get a photo book as the work was being done. didn't happen so I only go the ones from my January trip for the anteana.

It was taken down to bare metal stripped of most all chrome then Epoxie primer put on and block sanded several times then thre sanable primer was put on and block sanded and sanded even more.

4 coats of thr orginal color were applied and sanded and sanded some more.
When Dave was satified with the smoothness of the base color 4 coats of clear was applied.

Went and picked it up April 1st 2018 and had a couple weeks to have it read for our first show.

That’s awesome.

Buick’s are the superior machine.
Can we get some interior/engine photos?

Another thing I did early in 2017 was remove the wheels a pair at a time. Polished to Chrome parts to a blinding luster.

Scuffed up the painted parts and painted them with a dark hammered gray then 2 coats of clear.

We got an award in late Sept. at a show. It is a memorial Trophy in honur of Deloris Shultz who spent so many years helping premote the shopw and as a volunteer workers who passed away at age 93. It is given to the most orginal 1985 or older car. Ours had not been repainted then yet.

At the same show in 2018 we got best in class award. It can be used as a night light.

We had an 84 park ave when I was growing up.
Took my behind the wheel test in that beast.

Reaganaut monster.
I loved that car.

The grey looks really good.

Our parkave was burgundy, Ron burgundy.
Yes to the powered velour seats.
That thing hauled....

All of our awards were not top 10, 25 or better.
We got this farthest traveled plaque at the Climax Michigan Memorial day show.

It is a huge show I figure 350 cars and trucks there maybe as high as 400.

Nice! ‘68? We had a ‘67 Firebird when I was a kid... not sure what happened to that car, but I remember it being really fast (I’m not sure that it actually was, though). Us kids were pretty bummed when my dad sold it...

Here’s my dad’s old ‘38 Dodge that he drives around, and takes to the local shows...

Yes a 68, it throws some people with the valance, I added 69 camaro lower lights, took the 68 and 69, then cut and welded it together, and I added the 69 z28 badge in the grill. Was your dads a 4-speed?

IIRC the car was originally a 326/4 speed car, but at some point someone half assed built it and installed a 400/TH400. The clutch pedal was still there, just sat all the way down on the floor. The paint was actually pretty nice and it had the original Pontiac rally wheels.

That’s cool, a 400/4speed would have been fun, not that it wasn’t already! How old were you?

Hard to believe that it was well over twenty years ago... I was 14 or maybe 15. I was driving but dad never let me drive that car.
