If any y’all follow the bench thread you’ll notice the one in the middle I got a couple weeks ago, but I got the other two 288’s and the 385 yesterday. One of the 288’s and the 385 are locked up and the other 288 will run, but is scored. Really odd to get a chance at these caliber of saws around here local.

Dang! Pretty jealous of that haul! That’s a whole lot of fun sitting on that bench.

This is the first 385/390 I’ve ever owned so I basically want to see how it feels compared to a 288. I wouldn’t doubt they’ll all be gone before it’s said and done.

Has anyone tried an aftermarket carb for a 288?

I have several more to build, but need some carbys. I havent used an aftermarket carb in a saw.
I know nothing can beat OEM.

Just looking for opinions.

I think the last time I checked on an OEM carb from my dealer, it was around $90.

Sometimes HL Supply will put genuine Tillotson carbs on Deal of the Day for like $35.00

How are the cheap mufflers for these saws? Looks like the outlet is a little small but that could be changed easily enough. I'd rather hack an aftermarket muffler than my OEM one.

i've not tried an aftermarket muffler out on these saws yet. I will soon need to though as I am running out of them.

They work great. I have one on my 288 with a larger pipe installed
