First I mount the inner dawg with the top screw because the bottom wont mount. Next step I took a washer and shape until the bottom sit where I wanted it to and the bottom butted against the washer and not the crankcase. I may have to weld that washer to the dawg??? Next if u will notice I ground the bottom of the inner dog until that ole husky set flat and didnt wobble side to side like they r known for!!! :(:cunaooooo:20160306_020156.jpg

Next came the outside which was an obstacle!!:cunaooooo: !! I had to cut the back mounting hole off in order to adjust the front where it needed to be. The top mounting hole had to be ground out almost to the top and the very bottom of the dawg had to be ground to lower it down also. Finally getting the dog to set lined up with the inside dawg I had previously drilled a new mounting hole for the set screw and held it in place and drilled a pilot hole in the clutch cover. I then took a sheet metal screw and mount the dawg to the clutch cover. The back self retaing bar nut stud mounted right up but the front nut springs didnt line up so alil more notching with the foredom on the dawg until the retaing spring of bar nut fit through the dawg!!! And presto!! Double dawgs on a 550 and this dang husky dont wobble side to side any more!!!!:cunaooooo::cunaooooo:20160306_020108.jpg

Good idea Keith. I had my 372XT doubles laying around after I put the large set on it so I fitted them to my 357xp. I did all of the fitting with files, it didn't take too long, about an hour. I think it turned out pretty nice. I think the size of these dogs is a perfect fit for these smaller saws.

That 357 looks more compatiable to the 372 than the 550. Did ur bottom inner bolt up? I added a 2nd screw on the outer dawg for security20160306_081210.jpgScreenshot_2016-03-06-08-36-28.png

Is the front nut still captive or is it loose now? It reads like it is still captive but wanted to check.

The back nut has 3 springs but the front only has 2 but it still stays put when loose

I made a similar outside dog for my Jonsered 2152 out of some scrap I scrounged. My intent was more to keep it from tipping than to actually make a useable spike. This is my trimmer saw and rarely need an outer spike, but it certainly makes it sit up straight now.IMG_20150411_070741_019.jpg

Neither mount lined upon the inner dog. The height was good but I had to file it to get the depth right. Then I went just a touch more to keep the edge off the crank case.
