    Did US chrome

Now regarding sleeves .The process requires some forethought .Any decent machinist could do it .I myself am not a machinist by trade but I can do anything a tool and die maker can do it just takes me a lot longer .

It could have been him also .I talked to both of them at Saw Fest last year . Not to change the subject but Dave had an old school Homelite 650 racer I recognized from years ago done by big Dave Neiger (RIP ) .I ran that thing a long time ago .

best tool to remove crank bearings

Most of the non clam shells use what is called heat shrink fit .The process, right from the book is heat the bearing pockets up using a heat gun .torch or whatever you have .Once you get on to it it's relatively easy . Some use case seperating tools but few can afford it just doing a few DIY...

On that subject there might another possibility other than replating .That would be over bore and cast iron or 4140 steel cylinder liner .I've only done one being a 125 McCulloch . Dave at I think CCC in Columbus Ohio has done several with good succcess .He has a small boring machine while I...

    038 Build

You have to watch rolling it over with a drill . I spun a nut loose on a 95 cc old as the hills gear drive once .That flywheel orbited my garage about three times and just missed my wifes Cadillac ,

Chainsaws are kind of like women .They are all sisters but they are not identical twins .How they start or run you have to figure out plus remember .

    038 Build

If memory serves with a stock cylinder with a gasket the head deck clearance is around .043-.046 .With a shaved base you can get around .022 and still pull it over but unless to have arms of a gorrilla it about takes a D-handle .With the set up it will eventually once the rings are seated be...

    MCCULLOCH The official McCulloch thread

Before you get carried away first try the good old kerosene flush .However somebody might have adjusted the piston travel thus making it discharging less oil . Unless it's different from the normal 10 series impulse pump it should have a screw that sets the piston travel .More travel more oil .

HELP! Old Ditch Witch Trencher info needed

If you Google it you can find the caps, around $20 .If worse comes to worse you could fire a double coil which I once did for a Caterpillar D4 pony motor using a dry cell 6 volt lantern battery .Afterwards I did repair the bad magneto coil .Onan pancake two cylinder engines used a double coil .

    Saw Troll

On the subject of self promotion some forums are noted for that and some are worse than others .It can be amusing or insulting depending on how you look at it . The previous owner of A-site liked to promote arguements because the viewership increased and he billed the sponsers accordingly as for...

    Lathe questions??

As a teenager I thought I wanted to be a tool and die maker .However I ended up as an electrician and the machining just became an interest or perhaps just a hobby which I'm basically self taught .I can do just about everything a tool maker can do it just takes me longer to think through it .

    Lathe questions??

I might point out to the question of carbine tooling .Refering to the pic of the monarch 10" EE look at the shelf behind it .I've made probabley 20-25 V notch slides to fit the Aloris type post holder .I've altered old out dated type of tools, with the holders which I adopted for this machine...

    Lathe questions??

Couple of things .Besides a VFD drive a rotary phase convertor is not that difficult to make .Depending on the location older lathes come up for sale such as Southbend ,Atlas etc .These often come with a lot of tooling, chucks and often for a reasonable price .If you don't know much about the...

Those type air filters are not the best design .I think somebody is making after market which I've never tried .Danged flat filters don't filter very well so as such it's not uncommon to see the piston skirts on the intake side are worn down .However even with that it doesn't seem to affect...

My two 700's were freebies .One was froze up tighter than a bulls butt at fly time .A lot of kerosene and about a week I had it freed up . Repaired the recoil rebuilt the carb and cut wood . You have to really work at it to kill a McCulloch .
