    Need some firearm advice

1:16 twist with 62-72gr bullets??? Sounds a bit under-stabilized, even for lighter bullets.

    SOLD Zoo City Saws 372XP

@Warped5 - just so you know, I had that saw out playing today with a big old silver maple limb (~1 ft dia) that got ripped off one of our trees from a storm last week. I lopped off the smaller branches so that my child-slaves could haul them to & dump them in the creek behind our house. The...

    Gas generator fuel question

It's surprising that your generator only runs 2 hours on a full tank. We ran a 3500 watt baby generator for 10 days back in 2008, after Hurricane Ike winds knocked out power. As I recall, a full tank would run all night on a ~35-50% load. Whether or not you do add an extra fuel tank, also...

    Building a 290/390

Uploading big honkin' files ends up taking loads of disk space on the website's server, and also results in added bandwidth (data) consumption when multiple people read/view/download the big honkin' files over...and over...and over. This ends up costing $$$$$ to the site's owners. Plus, those...

    Building a 290/390

Do you NOT use 518 on these because it results in leaks around the bearing seals? If so, I just ran into that issue with my Mighty Husqvarna 136. I guess the seal/case gap was too big to allow the sealer to cure. The original seal was leaking around the crankshaft on the flywheel side, so I...

    041 open or closed port

Taking 4/10 of an inch off the base would certainly raise the compression!

    History of Husqvarna

Yup. The old rifles are from a different era, just one step up from muzzle loaders. Here's a pic of old school vs newer school. The upper one is more accurate than the bottom one, and my son has enjoyed shooting it since he was about 12 years old. The bottom one is my Swedish model...

    History of Husqvarna

I've got a number of Husqvarna firearms built in the 1870's. They're all single shot "rolling block" actions, chambered in 12.7x44R. This cartridge is sort of a heavy duty .50-70, originally loaded using a 345 grain lead bullet over 75 grains of black powder for the Swedish military. Compared...

    Compression Guage adapter

Back in December, I had an online discussion with Brad Snelling about this same issue. I have a compression gauge I bought from Bailey's. That gauge doesn't come with a 10mm adapter for testing saws with the dinky little spark plugs, so I bought a 14mm-->10mm adapter (a threaded cylinder of...

    Australian chainsaw and parts pricing

Leftcoastsuplies has 20" GB Pro Top bars for $22 (K095 mount, 0.325", 0.050"). I like the GB bars, and run a 32" on my Husky 395XP. That 32" bar (3/8", 0.050") runs $34 from leftcoastsupplies.

How much sealer to use when deleting base gasket???

That's why I use Permatex 51813 ( = Loctite 518). Any stuff that oozes out stays liquid. Only the sealer squished between close-fitting metal pieces (& away from oxygen) will cure.

    From My Local News...

If it saves the life of just one child, then it will be all worth it! Next to come: safe storage regulations. Saws must be stored unfueled, bar/chain locked in a separate cabinet. Do it for the children.

    From My Local News...

It was almost certainly an Assault Saw. You know...the type with a high capacity fuel tank and bar/chain over 20" in length. Why would anybody truly NEED such a saw? Think of the children!
