Gotta let em break in. I almost cried when my 261 was new.

Question Mr Cookie Kicker: Didja gut the stratos?
Pretty good shot, eh? Lol.

No sir. I believe that if the transfers are right, gutting the stratos won't show a gain. However, I've never done it myself to compare, as most of my customers want the fuel efficiency along with how the manufacturer intended the intake system to operate.

Good call Kev O Cookie Kicker!

I got to thinking about it while typing a reply about how much freakin wood a guy will get cut, just trying to get the "tank count" up on a strato saw. Those saws both seem to be nicely done!

Talking speed and torque, when I ported my 346 ,with the guidance of several of yall ,it picked up rpm,BUT the extra torque was very apparent compared to stock and with that little 325 square chain on it holy crap man.

If money were no object, the best engine is a V-12, followed by a straight 6 (preferably a slant 6), followed by a V-8. 4s and V-6s will work, but need counter balancing shafts to be smooth, and when I see 3 cyl and 5 cyl engines, I just shake my head and say "why"???

Why is a slant 6 so good? Normally, piston pins are off center to improve idle smoothness, but it hurts high RPM (427 Ford engines used to have the piston pins on center because they were designed for racing, not a smooth idle). If you slant the 6 the right way, it reduces or eliminates the need for offset piston pins to idle smoothly.
