I have lost JB many times in the transfers and the intake track of old Gilardoni jugs with chrome in the eights on 50cc two strokes. It hurts nothing just disappears and leaves dust behind even with added 25% nitro. Liquid steel wasted the chrome and the piston when it came out. Devcon aluminum is best but if you loose it you loose the motor. I found out nothing stivks to chrome or fresh cast aluminum the hard way. Stumpy can transfer this thread to JB worship land and you can stfu, please, sir. Rant done.

10cube, 10kw I get it. To me, 10kw seems like it would be low for a redesigned saw that size these days.

Something has to be done to the 880...its the last saw of its old style in the line up. I suppose throwing money at such a low volume seller is what prevents progress in this class. When/if a new model does come out it will be driven by EPA compliance regs. Stihl may as well give those who buy this saw what they want, big power, big fuel/oil tanks, big oiler, big air filter, big clutch, exhaust port and other big stuff, maybe some new big 1/2" chain to go with it.

I want to see them bring out a saw that's 130cc and holds 10000rpm in wood with a 42" bar . It's about time they did something right with a big saw .

You build high rpm saws, makes sense.


Brad would build it bigger for more HP and improve the intake to handle the bigger carb imo.

I don't see why a hypothetical 10 cube *163cc saw 'couldn't' make 26hp *20kw. 125cc dirtbikes make up to 40hp. There's just too many variables to have a definate answer about output potential.

It rounds up to a 5 cube class and most manufacturers fudge displacement numbers for marketing purposes anyway so I can see how it gets confused.

Not here to argue or get into a scientific debate.

I'd be happy with those results. Though 'for me' a stock one would be swell as well. If it were in the cards I'd dump all my saws and order one. I'm excited to see future 500i tweaks from other builders.
