I will bite based on my years as a millwright

Blue if you want to take it apart again with simple hand tools sized to the job

Red if it's semi permanent and you don't mind using heat, breaker bars, or impact wrenches

I am not a chainsaw wizard but I am not sure of anything on a saw that would need red

I am sure someone with way more saw smarts will school me though

Blue is all I'll ever use on a chain saw it does exactly what you said you can still take them apart without having to go to the big tool's.lol

Blue 242/243 genuine loctite brand is what I use when I need it. Red loctite I usually only use on carb screws. The best thing you can do is check all the screws after the first heat cycle. Never lost a screw doing that.

Just curious...

Which carb screws do you use red on?

i use blue sometimes, but generally just tightening screws properly has been good enough for me. actually used permatex anaerobic sealer on screws a few times. even if they loosen slightly, they dont tend to back all the way out.
