I gotta think oil is like auto tires and batteries

There are hundreds of brands but only a small handful of companies that actually produce the product

I would be curious to know how many of the smaller "niche" brands or even the bigger name brands of oil are actually refined and bottled by the named company and how many are custom specced and bottled

There are a lot of brands you guys come up with that I had never heard of outside of the forum and I assume many are regional like Schaeffer or are obvious re-bottled products like the Raisman oil shown above

I just don't see there possibly being all these mini refineries all around the country putting out relatively small batches of oil

Just thinking out loud here

Pretty sure echo oil has stabilizer
Then why a second bottle? I guess for lawnmowers or othwr 4 stroke stuff. But that's odd cause does Echo make any 4 stroke stuff or they just trying to sell another product to a customer in the door assuming many customers also have the other and many run businesses where they run mowers as well?

When I looked at that oil before I was thinking it was rebranded no smoke 2 stroke by alco. Comes in one liter bottles also instead of quarts. Both semi synthetic jasco fd rated. I’ve ran a lot of it now milling and no issues at all, still not much smoke at 40:1.

I was bored so I was looking at websites and labels for some of the recent choices for “best” oil

I noticed one that said “pre-diluted” on the label

I gotta wonder what that is supposed to mean

???

Additives to make it blend with gas easily, they used to recommend adding a little fuel to the oil then shake the heck out of it and add the rest it the gas to get a good mix.

The additive is called a diluent and is a good thing when mixing gas in cold temps. Most often its called naphtha or stoddard solvent on the MSDS. Its worth noting that many different products are called naphtha and Stoddard solvent. All the way from gasoline range hydro carbons to kerosene.

Ported tree monkey 661 jug run on Schaeffer 7000 32:1.

I sold this 661 to a local full time logger almost 2 years (just before 2017 CT gtg).

He just brought it in smashed up (reason it's taken apart here)
Schaeffer's 7000 is an ashless TCW3 boat oil. Schaeffer's doesnt even reccomend this oil be used in air cooled applications.
I ran some in a Lawnboy mower which does reccomend an ashless TCW3 type oil and wasnt real impressed. For starters it smells terrible.
What's wrong with using the correct type of oil for your particular application?
