Very few oils mix with alcohol, Klotz is the only one I know for sure. Probly a few others though

and KL200 stays mixed with ethanol ;)

Going to have to order another case soon. Dang locals running me out of it since I turned them onto it. Just got a case in mid apr.

It doesn’t affect anything in the tank. A leaner tune will run a higher exhaust temp. Viscosity of the oil only changes in the engine
Not so. Ambient temp has a great effect or viscosity change on the mix viscosity so that changes the flow through the filter, the pump and the orifice size of the jet. Think about it some.

If I freeze down your carb and your running 32-1 dino it gets thick.
If I freeze down your carb and your running 32-1 synthetic it gets thick.
Tell me what one has a fatter tune. Same carb settings.

Fuel temp becomes more important as temps drop and the mix ratio decreases like in sleds. None of this will matter in a warm chainsaw.

Yes ambient temp affects the fuel in the tank. But as I said before, how you tune the carb has no affect on the fuel in the tank

Ok here’s a test for ya, put some of your favorite 2 stroke oil in the fridge. Then put some in a pan on the stove and heat to 200 degrees. Which oil will be thinner than the other.

PS. You may want to use klotz because in will make your kitchen smell wonderful when you put it on the stove.

Good science here Deets, but I'd suggest taking the stuff on the stove to 350F. Your french fries and donuts won't crisp up very well at 200.

I've mixed 800 with 710 (50/50 & 25/75) just experimenting and had excellent results.
800 worked well, tuned properly and no wet muffler, if cutting stumps. Wet muffler if firewood cutting. I'm currently using 710 in all my saws and trimmers at 32:1.
Your tune is backwards for longevity. Sorry but its true.
Firewood cutting, dry. Stumps = wet or your using up the motor. Felling is somewhere in the middle depending on motor load. Wet muffler cutting firewood is a waste of fuel and oil IMO. The bad part is all the fumes your breathing in. Just my 2cts.

I use miscellaneous oils that I find laying around as a fuel additive for my four strokes, one ounce per gallon. I figger it adds some badly needed lubrication to the valve stems and seats and certainly isn't going to hurt anything.
Good idea. Most people never use lead or lead additives. I have gallons of old outboard boat oil laying around, thanks.

I was stating, like most others, Motul 800 off-road racing oil has such a high viscosity it's hard to burn it without getting an excessive wet muffler. The only way I could burn it efficiently was cutting large stumps. Others say the same when using it milling.
Motul 710 dry muffler firewood cutting.....not 800 (no matter what safe tune). When cutting stumps, I always tune rich.

A guy who was a longtime Ford tractor dealership tech told my grandfather to add a cup of bar and chain oil to the tank of his 1971 Ford 2000 every so often for the same effect. I use MMO because it has really good detergent action and is made to mix with fuel. Of course, cheap 2 stroke oil would likely be a good choice also.

I have never seen any oil separate with pump fuel that has ethanol. We're talking regular saws here not hotsaws, that's a different ballgame. If you run KL200 I would run a storage mix through the saw before sitting in on the shelf. If not I'm quite sure corrosion would be an issue IMHO.

I personally have had zero issues running Red Armor nor have any concerns but a local place now has this

I will be running this from now on! I ran it in my ZR 440's for years without a single issue.
The most impressive two stroke oil I’ve tried so far. Saber works well too.

How do you use the fogging oil? Take off air cleaner and spray into carb while saw is running?
