So someone enlighten me with what is under the hood of this saw. So I know it is a 65cc and the predecessor to the 2165. The same crankcase as the 371, front chain tensioner, Walbro hd 12. But it has a square intake port with a bolted on boot. It is so damn clean and very torquey and it is bone stock. I can’t be arsed to pop the jug to investigate as I’m happy as it is atm. So my question is - is it open or closed port? And why to me does it seem a tad lower revving than a 365 special closed port yet a tad more torquey?

Open port just like the regular 365 non special. I think they also came with a Zama instead of the Walbro at least mine did.The chain adjuster on front of the case.I think are the only differences from the 2165.

I’ll check the carb again. Thought it was a walbro. Probably wrong as I didn’t look too hard. So I am guessing you didn’t like the Jonsered straight angled chain brake handle? Sounds good. Is that modded at all?

Just noticed it’s a Husky case too? Think the Jsrd top cover and recoil are better looking than the 372/65/62’s IMO

I had a clapped out special and the 2065 was beat to hell when I got it needed alot.I just made a saw out of the two.My son and I both did it together cool project. The handle preference doesn't matter to me at all. We delete the base gasket and also did some grinding on it opened up the exhaust.I think we went to far on the intake though.

Yup we used the cylinder from the 2065. I have since tore it down to make it original 2065. Want to build another 365 as well have most of the parts I need. Also all the av need replaced for the 2065 to run the 365 had a busted tank found a good one just need the time.

I wound not change top ends on that saw.
So what should I do with this top end? Remove it, match the gasket to the case and then match the cylinder to the 'matched gasket'. Toss the original gasket and get the usual .20 squish. Then I will hopefully dual port the muffler when I have enough money to replace a handheld brazing torch. Overall I like this thing, anti vibe is a dream, it is quite quiet which is nice and when it revs it just plods and doesn't kick up a fuss.

I would call this saw a 'lazy' saw. Gets the job done without breaking a sweat and minimal fuss.

I've made a 372XP fit an XT as a bolt on, but I suppose if the XT fits, the top cover of the 2065 wouldnt.

That and you would have to clearance inside of the cases...

It’s hit or miss. I did some cylinders for guys in Canada on a 365 special bottom end. I did shave the extension off on some length after turning the base but don’t remember having to thin it to get it to sit down in the case

Thanks for the info saw dudes. I appreciate it.
Anyway, I outfitted the 2065 with a 52 mm BB,so let's see how long that lasts.
