Yup about a 1/2 hole.
The first modification would be to gut the muffler

Hindsight is 20/20 but I'd have specified the dealer not put any fuel/bar oil in the saw as customs can be +#%*'s when they want to. It would have raised Vince's blood pressure at the airport. He'll still most likely have the 1st 462 in the country, I'd take it to my local dealer & taunt him and ask him why he has none on his shelf then tell him you got the local husky dealer to order it in 4 him. Then just watch the steam come from his ears :shakehead:

I had that experience bringing a MS381 back from Bali customs thought it had fuel in it but it wasn't started or had bar oil they were telling me it had to go freight, fortunately common sense prevailed and they let me bring it in I was chitting bricks for about 15 minutes though

I would love to come up with a nicely designed one for 026s and 346s. Already modded

God damn!! Customs wouldn't let me travel with it [emoji35][emoji37]
Panic attack with an hour before the flight takes off to organize shipping some how to home.
They reckon because it has been test fired there is some remnants of fuel in it. Nothing in the tank but has the slightest smell of fuel.
So will be a few weeks before I reunite with it [emoji17][emoji22]
Customs are really anal on fuel residues :(

Vince, was that suit case a carry on?
Just wondering because in all my travels my checked luggage goes straight on to the conveyor belt and has never been opened by security.

Talked to my contact at Stihl Canada today and he says unlikely to see the 462 till next fall or into 2019 .
They want to do more cold temp and altitude testing up north (Canada) before they release it in Canada .
Good way to look at it is they will be working out issues and when it does reach here it should be trouble free .
That's what I was told guys , don't hate the messenger

And I think that includes the 500i as well .

Sorry to hear about that Vince.
A few years ago I was in Mexico looking to take home a MS381 with me.
But backed out as the 2 dealers I found ran up all their saws before they put them on their shelves.
But yeah factory fuel residues could be a problem on board an airline. Especially in eco sensitive Germany.

Or Virginia.

Checked Baggage.

Yep West coast and East coast of North America doesn't have temperatures in the 30 below range, where many saw have to work in.
But Stihl must have tested the 462 in the interior of Alaska, B.C. and states like Minnesota.

Sweden temps even in the far northern parts don't get down all that cold. More like a interior B.C. winter.
Not like when I was hand falling here in northern Manitoba Canada.
I remember one December we had -40 below (Celsius and Fahrenheit are equal at -40) every day for the whole month, every morning right up to lunchtime , then warm up to -30 for a few hours in the afternoon.
We had no choice but to keep logging with the chainsaws and cable skidders with Christmas bills coming up.
That was the 1970s, 80s/ early 90s. We were tough back then .You won't see saws running in those conditions anymore today except maybe Siberia...(big saw market there.)
