Wow. Didn't realize that Brad. All my saws are ported with extra ports. I wonder what it looks like under the muffler cover? All boxed in?

Good post!
Alot of this 30 year old period info has been forgotten.
This is my 1989 10mm 044AV and first year 1986 064AV.
When I worked for Stihl In 1989 I passed out this 044 brochure on to all the dealers and end-users I could find.
The brochure says the 044 was 12.8 lbs which I believe was true as that was a 1988 brochure spec when the earliest 044 was introduced.
My 064 owner's manual says 14.1 lbs.

That's funny, could do the exact opposite with 272 or 372xp vs the 044.

Well it took Husqvarna over 4 years to match the 044 (displacement only) with their 272XP which was just a big bore old school 268XP. The 372Xp came years later.
By then the 044 had pretty well swept the 70cc market.

God damn!! Customs wouldn't let me travel with it [emoji35][emoji37]
Panic attack with an hour before the flight takes off to organize shipping some how to home.
They reckon because it has been test fired there is some remnants of fuel in it. Nothing in the tank but has the slightest smell of fuel.
So will be a few weeks before I reunite with it [emoji17][emoji22]

Yeah tell me about it. Not happy but what can you do. They reckon if they let it thru it could hang up in the next airport security check as I have 3 flights to get home. I
I guess there was a 50/50 chance. I was pretty confident seeing it hadn't been filled by the dealer.
Now have to get someone to pick it up and pack it and send it. A real pain in the backside but hopefully will get there.
Next time will pack it well and send it FedEx separately.

Sorry to hear about that Vince.
A few years ago I was in Mexico looking to take home a MS381 with me.
But backed out as the 2 dealers I found ran up all their saws before they put them on their shelves.
But yeah factory fuel residues could be a problem on board an airline. Especially in eco sensitive Germany.

In 2013 i couldn't ship a brand new 661 to Brad because of similar regulations... :BangHead: 80$ insured shipping cost's and more than 3 weeks of waiting for nothing

It's funny how I have sent Randy a few saws no problem with FedEx but a saw can't go on a commercial airplane [emoji37]

Fed Ex is extremely expensive here in germany, they charge over 250€ for sending a chain saw to the US. UPS has similar prices here.

DHL is much "cheaper" but also much slower (if it works)

The first Australian retail purchased 462. We'll sort of. It's Australia bound at least. [emoji13]
