That's darn near the perfect 3 saw plan to me.......

The 372 has so many great things about it that it probably is the cream of the three, but although I could build myself a killer 372 at any time.....My two main saws are a ported 254xp and a 181 that's also ported.....They cover everything I cut and the 181 is usually wearing a 34" bar.

I love your combo!! I had a 254xp that I sold for a MS362. Hated the ms362 and have been wanting the damn 254 back. This 262 has been a superb find though, a bit of an upgrade on my 254. The 372 is a do all saw. But the 262 feels so much more balanced and light, obvs the 372 out grunts the 262 though.. The 181 is in perfect condition and sounds sooo friggin good..

I've never ran a 262, but they certainly have a following......I got my 254 with a scored top end and ported it when I built it, so never experienced it stock....It's an absolute animal though in it's present form. I still shake my head at all the power it has in such a light package...I just put an HDA-87 from a 262 on it actually.

I wouldn't get rid of my 372. Love my 288 but my 372 has a permanent place on the shelf, especially now that it has a 375K top end on it. :eusa_dance:

Quick question who would prefer to keep a 181se/281xp/288xp over a 372xp if you wern't cutting for a living and had a tidy 262xp nearly done as the prospective go to saw???

Or am I an idiot???? I love a 1 series/2 series...

I say this having never run a 181se or 281xp, but I would never trade my 372XPW for either of them. Tougher choice between the 372 and 288 though, and I have run brother's newly rebuilt 288 for comparison. Granted my XPW is modded and runs pretty stout and his 288 remains stock for now, so the XPW is faster in the cut on most of the stuff we work with. Bring that 288 to even footing in terms of mods and I think the storyline changes quite a bit though. Having said all that, there is a reason that the 372 has remained such a popular saw, dare I say even the current XT version since some folks have figured out how to mod them and really wake em up.

Keep your 372 ;)

I got my 288 builder from @dustinwilt68 today! The saw is in very respectable condition for being an 88' model and Dustin was awesome throughout our transaction. Here's how it looked when I got it (dustins photo) and after running it a bit I decided to strip it down.
