One of the oaks I dropped and bucked last week got rained on before moving all of it.
I have not seen purple mold before. White yes.
What is this?
Is it something to worry about?
Should I move the rest across my property?
Is this something that may have killed this oak?
Am I just over reacting?
Any information and input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Starch in the wood. See it all the time in oak.

That looks like Phanerochaete crassa. Its a fungus that sometimes forms on wood laying on the ground and it starts to decay the wood

Will it still cure in the wood pile or keep decaying and start decaying the rest if the wood?

Here is a little video. Interesting how it is on one tree and not the other.

KenJax maybe correct on Phanerochaete Crassa. But, because that tree was standing and not on the ground for long. How about oak wilt (fungus also) and purple color is break down of starch (complex carbohydrate and food source for plants). Cutting oaks you will see blue and dark purple from starch a lot. Just my guess.
