We still have big bucks.. hunting pressure is unreal anymore. Guys w/ big bucks pay big bucks$ to lease or buy premium land. Lost 4 of my 5 killer spots that way.
Been hunting a 150 class ten point this yr to no avail.
He didn't get that way by being stupid. Urban bucks are tuff..

November of 1995 chasing after two does. Don't usually shoot bucks, But I knew if I didn't I would catch hell for not shooting. Not very many real big ones in these parts.

I don't hunt specifically for trophies but try to hold of during the rut after that game on. I need meat in the freezer. We call these scrub bucks ? Let's see some.

We have a lot of those scrub bucks here, makes ok hamburger for the freezer. Might be smoking a lot of this one.

I let all little guys walk early even some I wish I'd taken.
But when season gets to the end anythings fair game. I let this one pass at 15yds first time I seen him. Thought he wasn't big enough. Shot him about five days later

Nice one stihl, As I have never been a buck hunter as most others around here. We don't have a lot to chose from in these parts. So most try to take what they can, or they end up with nothing at the end of season. We do have full season doe tags in our county which ends in two weeks. I also much prefer doe meat over any buck, I also like to kill a heifer over a steer, meat seems more tender to me. I always had to hunt for meat, old man said you can't eat them damn horns boy. I would catch hell for shooting them damn things. The few hunters in this little area here go on the first come first serve basis. Back in the seventy's and eighty's if you didn't have a pack of deer hounds or know somebody that did you hardly ever got to see a deer much less kill one. As I had more friends starting in November thru first week in January that I didn't even know, never saw them again until next November. ( And damn few of them ever offered to buy any dog food for the hounds.) So I sold every damn one of them in 1983 about 30 of them, and have not had many friends since. ( We called them freeloaders ) What little hunting we do now is still hunting.

I'd of taken him also. I see all the tv shows from Iowa you guys have a lot of big deer there. Ohio has some of the biggest just not the quantity of Iowa. Both states have had world record deer just seams like all deer there are good ones.

There have been some true giants taken in Iowa this year. More then normal imo. Just saw a picture of the monster taken in Ohio I believe last weekend?? Wow!
