That's the best reply in this thread. I do it the same way myself. I've been inside modified saws from around 20 different builders, and most were good but a few were not. I just fix 'em and move on. I don't talk about it other than what the owner needs to know.

Im no oil expert but bar and chain oil at 50:1 probably is not the best idea.

I had a neighbor do that last yr.

some of you are pretty sharp, picked up on a few things I didn't mention.

one side of the intake port has no overlap, on the edge of free port. other side has about .020". exhaust side about the same.

if you look close at this pic, you can see the plating is wore off the center bottom of the intake port.

So you agree that whichever saw has run longer will be the one with the longest run time?

When it gets dark out do you ever get confused and think you're asleep?

I'm just spitballing, here, but if that saw was in my shop I'd check the squish clearance.

I'd check the clearance between the top of the piston and the squish band, too.
