I have been using my fiskars x27 and isocore for several years now. I have a wandering eye

Is a wooden handle splitting axe going to be more forgiving on my elbows?

What brands offer a head similar to the x27 in both shape and weight? It has blasted through almost everything I have thrown at it. However if i can get that performance with some vibration relief I would take it

I hope somebody offers you a solution. The X27 handle, in particular, is painful for me to use because it literally rings like a bell with every strike in tougher wood. The Isocore maul handle, being solid, is a little better. But like you I prefer a wooden, vibration-dampening handle. Good luck in your search! I'm interested to see what turns up.

I’ve considered filling the x27 with some foam. Not sure it would do anything

Look up Tennessee Hickory. They will make em to the specs you want and very reasonable price. You can get em with no finish on em to stain or wax em to suit you.

Unfortunately, I don't think the X27 has a head that will accept a wooden handle. It's a very "modern" axe. This image came off the Fiskars website; it obviously is not my own.

There is nothing that Im aware of with a wooden handle that has a head like the Fiskars.

I like my oschenkopf? Oxhead, split well, didn’t get stuck the handle was shorter but I don’t mind that.
With a 32” handle it would be a beauty.
You could poke around flea markets and farm auctions, pick out a variety of vintage axes for usually dirt cheap.
I have a worn down 3.5lb plum that I hung on a 32 that is an absolute breeze to use.
