My brother told me to get rid of him the first time he met it. Then, after it got to know him, he praised how good the dog was.

He scared the heck out of several people, but never bit anyone … but he left no doubt in your mind that he could have had you!

I could hike with him w/o keeping him on the leash, and he would stay close, and if I told him to "stay", he would, no matter what he saw. I would just leash him whenever anyone else was coming. He was good with most people, but every now and then he made it clear he did not like someone.

Two of my male neighbors liked to pet him when I walked him, but they both said if my wife was walking him they stayed away from him, because he would protect her.

I had 9 neighborhood kids come over one day to play with him in the back yard (something they often did). I think some of the kids did it on purpose because they knew their parents were scared to death of him. He loved all kids, no matter what they did to him (one little girl hit him over the head repeatedly, giving her mother a heart attack, but the dog was fine with it, he didn't care at all).

I think any dog will chase deer .I had a female German shepherd the deer just had a ball with .Ran that dog until she nearly dropped and slowed down so the dog could catch up .I got to laughing so hard I nearly fell off the bulldozer I was building a pond with . Nice dog,not real bright .

Watched a coyote do that to a dog in the desert. Poor dog almost died of heat stroke. My mate poured water on him to cool him down and the coyote was still hanging around hoping to have some more fun. The dog crawled under a truck and called it a day.

Copsey had this giant male shepherd ,I mean a big boy .I kind of made buddys with him .They were running those piped saws and it hurt his ears so I stuck my finger in his ears .Every time they fired one up here he came to me .Dogs can be quite amusing .

A story .my dads buddy ,a farmer sold his 300 acres near Santa -Fe Ohio and bought 900 acres near Dothan Alabama .At that time Alabama had I think a 30 day season on deer .Deer a day limit but they were tiny little things ,certainly not the size of Ohio white tail .They ran them with beagles which was legal . We were going to go down about this time of the season until one of his sons killed a 6 foot rattle snake .Dad called me up and said we are not going to Alabama .West Virginia that year no snakes .

--and another .Same guy as above ended up with around 1600 acres of Alabama farm land .One piece of ground had around an 80 acre of live oak woods as well as smaller patches .As the story went some time in the 30's a bunch of hogs got loose and ran feral .Great big ones .The local Baptist church sold tickets to hunt them using hounds from the back of farm tractors using 45:70 rifles .They didn't fool around with those big 4 legged bacon bearers .

They claim in Alabama alone it takes an 80 percent kill back each year just to keep the hog population in check .Damned things will eat anything that doesn't eat them first .I think history says it was the Spanish who brought these things over from Europe .They aren't really native to the Americas .

No they ain't. And the first wild one weren't that big either. I remember my dad telling me in the 80 when farms were going under left and right alot of hog farmers just turned them loose and I think thats why now you see some really big wild one out there these days.

And a woman was just recently killed in East Texas by some wild hogs.

Yea there is Russian wild strains a d the European domestic ones. And then they cross breed.

Pics are a species that can turn wild in just a few months after released. They start to grow hit in a very short time. A domestic pics offspring will have all the feral traits of wild pigs. It's a crazy thing there the fastest species that will turn feral.

This was Thor (White/Brown). Unfortunately, he is gone, and Lucy (Black/White) now has a very grey muzzle! He was very smart. I love the 2 dogs we have now, but they are like children, he was like having an adult. After spending a good deal of time at the Humane Society, he seemed genuinely grateful that we adopted him. He learned what you taught him, displayed good judgement, and loved kids!

I've had a few rescue dogs. Some from shelters some from deplorable conditions. All were pits and they never seemed to forget where they came from and showed how grateful they were with how well behaved they were. Great animals and family pets when properly trained.
