I would venture to say the saw has been used right much, the starter rope was a Sunday afternoon event that broke and that is all that was available. The sparkplug is sheer " it fits!" Let's make some money. Glad you was able to purchase and can revive it. Nice find!

Husqvarna and others put champions in at the factory.
Haven't used a champion plug in many years, they may have improved. They used to be a sorry excuse for a spark plug. would foul very easily. Lost a couple races cause of them. I know we should tout American products but the Japanese plugs are hard to beat. I imagine champions are made in china now. If I bought something with one in it, that would be the first mod to happen is throwin the champion in the trash.

Champion switched the compound used for the resistor years ago that caused alot of trouble. They eventually fixed that but still haven't regained trust. My 394 came with champion when new and held up for years.

The size of the plug is the same as bar size..... The bigger the bar the more Hp.......;)

I believe sometimes I could sell a wild thing with a 36" bar on it faster then a 660 with a 20" bar..... No one wants a little saw!o_O
It appears to be the other way round here in the UK, Most popular are 50cc saws with 15/18 in bars for day to day use . Sure bigger saws are sold but not in any where near the numbers of the smaller saws.

I'm sure it was just out of necessity or not caring, but a longer reach spark plug can increase compression if space permits.

Lawnmower plugs are the norm for homeowner saws. First thing that gets replaced when it don't run right or not at all.
