I can say the same with the new Stihl's (the MTronic). My coworkers had many carb issues on their 362/441/661. The 461 is a good saw, but you have to carry 2 extra air filters for a complete day at work.

The old guy who teach me my job told me once: "If you take care of your saw and always run a sharp chain, then you can use a Stihl, a Husky or a JRed (he was a JRed guy), they'll all cut fine."

But today, with these electronic carbs, that's another story...

You see some guys that are so passionate about some of these huskies. Then you got to a few forums and almost always there is at least one thread in the first two pages about problems. My local husky "dealer" ( term used loosely ) told me they could order me a 562xp but it was mine even if I hated it and they wouldn't work on it if there where ever any problems with it.

Sure is a lot of people that love those 562s though! How smooth and powerful they are for their weight. As far as a 390 & 395 weighing the same, there is a noticeable difference between the 2, what are you caring around for a Stihl

Huskies autotune hasnt been flawless, and their quality controls system hasnt been superb either, to many issues, seems 560 and 562 is the two where there is most issues. We can't take away the fact that they are still best in their class, so easy to work in thge forrest with, well balance and powerful.
Stihl themself also have rotten apples, MS 201 is a perfect example, even my old 018 is more releable compared to that piece of s h i t.
Sometime I praise JRed, the nice with them is that they always come with their version long time after Husky, got rid of most of the issues Husky had on their way.

Well, to be perfectly honest, in the trees we were felling, very dense hard sugar gum, the 562 was second to the 362 and my 261xb, and I do not like the 362. Not talking pure cutting speed here but the whole package

I like the 562 less

The foresters also do not like the external chain brake, they've already had one get smashed as they couldn't separate the bar from power head

Bah, brand loyalty is just a silly way to miss out on some great saws IMO. Both husky and stihl make some awesome saws, and both make some crap saws. Unless we have some hard statistics on failures and there causes, we really don't have anything to go off of but opinion and hear-say. And of course let's not forget there are many great saws that are neither husky nor stihl...

Personally…I cherry pick saws from many companies , Not just Stihl and Husqvarna. For those who are having "BIG" headaches with any pro saw its going to be a expensive and bitter pill. I feel we are in a transition phase in the last 5 yrs …many new technologies coming out and for sure ..Its not all sorted.
Designs from the1990's- 2000's are where they are with quality and following due to development over time , so you would hope the big 2 will get it together on the current generation ASAP !

Sounds like a Ford, Dodge, Chevy, GMC thing to me. But, I have only owned Husqvarna 50,257,262's,346,357's,371's,372's,385's,394,562 and enjoy cutting with a 562. Why so many, people hit the magic number and they own it. Brother and cousin where Stihl people, I converted them. Run what you like and keep a sharp chain.

You can all have them new computer saws.As the years roll by and the crank seals take a chit tuning a carb will be a lost art haha. I'll stick with my screwdriver.

I agree, have a 262xp with over 20 years and replaced 3 rings and it will never be for sale. Like my pre-xt 372's also. My grandfather and father said that about computers in cars and trucks. Build a 95 Jeep with a 350 chevy, best upgrade was fuel injection and a computer. I believe these issues will be resolved.
