Elux bought Husky then Partner, Jonsereds, Pioneer and then Poulan and Weed eater. I think they bought Frontier as well.

Husky was obliged to drop the "S" at the end of Jonsereds. Jonsereds exists as a tarp and tent manufacturer.

Husky bought RedMax in 2007.

Elux spun Husky off around 2006 or so and they are independent now.

McCulloch was sold to Black and Decker in 1973. Mac went bankrupt in the late 90's and the name was sold Cheng Feng.

Husqvarna bought the McCulloch name back several years ago.

John Deere bought Homelite in 1994 and sold it to Techtronic Industries in 2001.

Solo is still making OPE but no chainsaws

Efco is still making saws and other OPE.

I wouldn't worry about hog renters.

It's the sheep renters that you have to watch out for, especially if they come with a room rental.

Most of the current Redmax USA line are rebadged former Jonsereds. No differences whatsoever other than branding as far as I know. Makes about as much sense as slapping Toyota Camry badges on a Saab 900 to me. The Redmax GZ3500 and GZ4350 are bona fide Redmax saws, I really want one of the latter.
