Who’s Who in Chainsaws?

I was reading one of Spike60’s posts with pictures of some earlier Jonsereds when they were still an independent company. Or was it Husqvarna that Electrolux bought out or both? Why does a vacuum cleaner factory want to buy a chainsaw one? Why don’t they just take their overpriced vacuum and clean up some of those sawchips?There was once all these great giants of companies popular by region and now things are mostly mixed up. Who owns who? Is there still a Solo or Jonsered?

I think Shindaiwa is coming back here. What companies are what these days?

Okay, I'll do my best. Husky is still kickin' and last I saw they still own McCulloch and the other crappy homeowner saw brands such as Homelite and Poulan. Dolmar saws are being discontinued soon, Jonsered still exists, but I don't think they do saws anymore, Echo is still Echo, Stihl is still Stihl, I don't think Solo is still around but they are out of my wheelhouse, Shindaiwa's are red Echos (think Husky/J-red/RedMax), and I think that covers it.

Such a shame Makita and Dolmar merge their two stroke business, only to decide to discontinue all within 5 years.
They made such pearls the last couple of years like the 4210/5010 and 7910.
Now I am afraid to buy more because I'm not sure if part are going to be a problem.

Solo was bought out by ALKO and was making saws up till a few years ago and not selling them in the USA. Now I see they don’t have any listed on there foreign sights.

I read in the paper once, a man’s death was caused by an accident. I thought no when this man acted on his desire to get in his car and drive somewhere, his actions caused his death. The accident is only a way of describing what was the result of that guy’s actions. If a piece of space junk landed on his car and pulverized him, That’s not the changes life has for him, he should have done something else.

Fate is spread a little thin because it has to act everywhere and on everything perpetually. Fate cannot expand fast enough. The universe outruns it. That’s why you get to make choices.

A little fate plays in but it means less when you move the last Rook right in front of the Queen.

Anyway I’m just goofing around with ya. I’m sure a newcomer is shocked or a European but nobody else.

I’m sticking with Stihl and there are Husqvarna dealers nearby. Now a Tractor Supply opened and at first they had Jonsered what nice saws. Nothing good lasts too long if people don’t support it. That’s gone. I’m not mourning about Muculloch can’t even spell him. What is a Redmaxx is that a thing? I remember a place called Efco that made their own product and John Deere’s. I am a Grandpa man. I can do this all the time.

True that Lightning performance. I have a buddy from Peoria who got mad at his wife and walked from Peoria to Taylorville in a snowstorm. I’d have to check but I think it would take a couple hours in a car. I guess by the time he got to Taylorville he was so cold that a nice warm dryer at a laundromat looked like a nice warm place to take a nap.
He woke up when some lady opened the door to put her clothes in. The law left him alone when he explained everything. In my experience they won’t bother you if you tell them somebody else made you mad. People normally really will believe that.

Redmax must be part of the vacuum cleaner shop. They're known for good blowers I think. Maybe trimmers and edgers too. They are selling saws too, but they are what used to be jonsered saws. Not all of them though. I think you can get a husky 550, 372, 390, maybe some other models. The red and black used to get a jonsered sticker, now it says redmax.

At some point forum members learned that Mastermind rents out hogs locally, but in spite of many requests he refuses to rent them out to OPE members. In an amazing show of solidarity, OPE members have joined together to protest this unjust discrimination by badgering Mastermind about rental hogs at every opportunity, in the hopes that one day he'll lift his ban and rental hogs will be available to all!
