I read "I have ___ hours..." or a specific number of tanks on here and wonder who keeps a log of this stuff. I can see keeping tabs on a new or rebuilt saw for a few tanks but guys are stating "250 hours". Unless you are a production cutter and run for a consistent 6 hours out of every day or you plug into your AT/Mtronic, you are just guessing.

OK. I forgot about tachometers. I was thinking it would be odd to see an hour meter on the housing somewhere.

I had a good ole boy bring in a Wild Thang and claim he had a thousand hours on it. I think he's been swallowing a little too much 'dip'. But another guy must be an accountant, as his chipper vac came in with a tally sheet of date and time elapse for each time he used it over the last decade.

Only when I'm breaking in a new saw I keep track of fuel used .5 gallon of 32.1 with non synthetic oil. Then 1.5 gallons of 32.1 with a synblend running a Lil fat for temp reasons. after the 2 gallons are burnt then I lean saws out a bit and let em scream and stretch out more. That's all the keep track of fuel or time I do.
Then it goes by how many bars been on my saw till they get sloppy with a new chain. Yeah Im a bit stupid or weird but it is was it is.

I was keeping track of fuel usage to compare to board feet milled. I did it with the 084, 088, 390, 046, and 395. 088 was the most fuel efficient in that category.

I know there is nothing fuel efficient about a 395. Especially a ported one. You can watch the fuel drop everything you pull the trigger

I bet more power n torque and not running 13k
It was on a older one. It tuned to a touch over 13k.

395 was second best. All were ported.

I know how many tanks I have ran thru each of the saws I have. Since the majority were bought second hand, I don't know how much fuel they saw before they came to me though.

Sometimes I forget what day it is, so I have no idea how much fuel/oil I put through saws. But I do know that I went through a 5 gallon can of VP SEF 94 fuel in about 2 to 3 months. I thought it would last me a year. I guess I have been doing lots of cutting. I used 3 saws primarily. A ported JMSSAWS Stihl MS440, a ported Stihl MOFO 026, and a stock Stihl 026. LOL
