When did the cost of Echo skyrocket?

Prices are all over the place on Echos. I bought a new 7310PW, no bar, for just under $1000 in December on Amazon. At the same time most of the postings for new 7310Ps for around $1100 IIRC. What I have noticed is many of their parts prices are now high, right up there with Stihl and Husky - like $9 for a plain screw, etc. I recently bought a couple of plastic Echo 590 clutch cover “kits” with the parts unassembled. I think they were around $50. Guess what - they were incomplete and still needed another $20-$30 worth of parts.

My bad. I should never post before having morning coffee. We are talking Echo saws. The new Echo I got was a 620PW, PHO for $500.

Had a 572 for a while but prefer the 372xp which has been ported- the xtorq 372 I also do cylinder work on to really stand up and be noticed, don't get me wrong the 572 is a nice saw to use but I prefer the power of the 372 and parts are very easy to find, easy to work on and I am in control of carb settings-IMO

I bought a 1/2 impact last fall for $175, now it's "on sale" for $235. Everything is unreal, it's $45 for a set of decent wiper blades, the "cheap" ones are $25-30. I've pretty much stopped building saws, all the parts got to be too expensive to even do it for fun. I work at a parts store and get parts cheap, so now I build trucks. Kinda amazing when on a price per pound sorta scale it's cheaper to build trucks for fun than it is to build saws. $80 for a complete bearing/seal/gasket kit for a NP435 or $40 for an oem Stihl chain tensioner setup for a 660.

Nice, I don't have any air tools. Most of the M18 tools have jumped up in price also, a few M18 tools have dropped a little, but not very many.

The same 1/2 M18 fuel impact you could of bought most all of 2022, to first part of 2023, for $175, is now $250. Fall of 2020 they were $150 when they first hit the shelves.

Glad I got my 1/2 impact with one of those, buy one - get one free, piggyback deals at home depot fall of 2022, when the prices were down. It's nice & it has some big stones, but no way I would of laid out $250 for one at today's prices.

M18 fuel multi tool that used to be $139, in the fall of 2022 to summer of 2023, now is $229.

Some of this stuff is straight up out of hand, and needs a reset / reboot.

You can get a new gray market CS-1200 (I think that is the model number?) for a grand or so, and Echo sells parts for them in the USA. A few people here have them. They come up on Fleabay once in awhile.

Far as I know, the Napa air tools are the lower end Ingersoll with the Carlyle name on them. Meaning, they're pretty good but you can buy the premium Ingersoll tools for the same or not much more if you shop around. Carlyle are about the best non-USA hand tools I can think of, I have one of their ratchets and it is really nice. Once again though, you can get USA made Wright tools for roughly the same price if you look around. I have a bunch of Wright ratchets, sockets, and wrenches. They are definitely as good as Mac/Matco/Cornwell and way better value than all the truck brands especially Snappy.

Echo is definitely trying to bring there prices closer to Stihl ,Hus, making them far less competitive in the overall market.
