Being a cheap skate I've made pullers for Stihl from metric hydraulic tubing "banjo" fittings and tapped the center for M11 Ford cylinder head bolts . This one is M 12 bolt

I only got into running & fixing my own saw to make more money to build a few small block Chevy muscle cars so I could get laid. Unfortunately, I could never keep a licence. I never had so may points on a licence I never had.

More unfortunes, rock 'n' roll wasn't an option. You only run saw or fight for a living when you can't sing, can't dance.

If they don't come apart and go together like a zipper then I'm not interested.

I like everything easy, right.

My mechanic buddy had pullers but he said by the time you turn around and dig everything out then it's already done.

How he showed me was hook the starter pawls back with an elastic. He used an old bicycle inner tube and cut a few thin rings. He stores then on a peg.
One pair of narrower pliers on the shortest fins on the 372.
Back off the nut just past the threads.
Suspend it slightly and smack it 1...2 or 3.
No brass hammer for this application.

Many methods work with some engines but not with others. Here's a method for a Husqvarna 51 that works every time for me:
Husky51Flywheel.jpg
I tap once or twice on the flat blade screwdriver with a hammer and then rotate the wheel 90 degrees and tap again. After about 3/4 the way around or so, the wheel pops right off. On other engines, this method has failed, but I usually try it anyway because it is so harmless.

The worst I ever had was on a McCulloch 125 C .I have no idea how or why it happened but the thread pull holes were tapped for #12 screws .Not nearly enough thread area and obviously they didn't hold .Not to mention trying to find #12 bolts long enough for a bar puller .#12's are bastard size anyway .I ended up tapping them out to 5/ 16" and using a heat gun to warm the flywheel hub . Somebody must have driven that thing on with an 8 pound sledge .

worst for me was when a customer used Red Loctite to insure the flywheel wouldn't loosen. Well, it didn't and ended up coming off in pieces!
I think you are supposed to heat the red stuff until it softens, but it takes a lot of heat and might melt seals.
