I have seen it a lot
People that think dirt wont dull chains, and after chopping as much dirt as wood, they push harder and harder on the handle bar to try and force the chain to cut.
Saw overheats and dies very quickly.

Generally speaking people like this are beyond help and will continue to chop dirt and kill saws no matter what they use.

Its amuses me because they just reduce their profits

I'd rebuild the 359 and spend an hour or two cutting with him. It's easy to give people tips on saw care but it sinks in more when they see it being done. Like sharpening the chain every couple tanks, keeping it out of the dirt, cleaning the airfilter etc.
If they watch you do it they're more apt to do it themselves.

If it's hired hands then no matter what you do they'll break them so they don't have to use them.

Doesn't matter what saw he gets,it's not a saw problem it's a employee problem.

If he starts buying good saws it will stop and not because the saw is better but because it hurts more to replace

Randy just had a 562 on his bench with 20 hours on it and a blown out PTO bearing. A dull chain (and a dull operator),can kill even the best saws.

And especially those saws.

You know, the 562 seems to have a bad rap for not being durable, but I have a lot of commercial cutters that run them as their primary ground/bucking saws without issue. These guys use these saws, a lot, with questionable fuel/mix, and are not kind to them. Pretty much the only time I see one is for drop/crush damage. The odd one will come in here or there for an air leak, and it is typically the PTO seal, but by the time it happens they typically have hundreds of hours on the clock.

Now, the 550, that is another story entirely.

So 1 has problems now only sometimes,( since they got the whole el47 carb situated 2 years later), & the other one has problems all the time.

I had all but decided the Dolly 6100 is the 60cc Saw to have.

And the the 362 rev. 2 came out... [emoji17]

I know we've all said our theories about this, but this is my firm stance on it....from a Jarhead/combat mentality...it's an absolute Top/Down problem. When the Top dawg keeps on shelling out duckies on saws, it's a direct reflection of his leadership...more so his 'inability' to lead...and teach. You can have all the Jose's, Hose B's, Hose C's on the planet you can stand...when the Top boy lets things slip...what you really think the rest of the gene pool gonna do?? Really....think about it!!

You Nailed It Jarhead.

Like a few others have said, if he starts spending big $$ on Saws, he will either get their attention, or he will close shop.
