Building some dual dogs for one of my saws, and I'm just wondering what material I should use? Thanks
HARDOX
the most strong dificult for drill it and work it but no bends no nothing another good one is the DOMEX or if you know how to harden then go for softer materials

One thing that surprised me as I tear into a near 70 year old Stihl Contra Lightning that has most of the exterior paint worn off and has been put to good use in its time is its felling dawgs. They have near all the deep red paint worn off and have had a huge service life but the points on them are like they were cut from the factory yesterday. They must have used high qulity steel on those spikes, I have seen nothing like it on any other saw. I think its overkill and not that necessary but its what you get on them ol saws, they were built with such craftsmanship.

You could probably make them out of 10 gauge sheet metal and never know the difference .Kind of like a wedge with a knife edge on a log splitter .Some people get the bright idea it has to be made of hardened tool steel ,it doesn't --unless you are splitting channel iron .

stainless is heavier per square foot but 1/8th inch id think would be good but old saw mill blades would be the best
