So a buddy of mine is paying me to mod his saw. It's a MS1838 AV Mcculloch. Lol. I'm laughing too. He got to see what I've done with my Craftsman clamshells and is kind of excited. I told him strait up that what I do isn't going to increase power as much as he thinks. His response? He just wants it to run "happier". Lol ok then! So I tear it down. New carb kit and before and after gaskets and new piston ring. So tonight is grinding night. And I've not done one like this yet. It exhausts sideways and bdc is below the exhaust port. Never seen the latter in a saw before. Let alone one off center. This is going to be fun for sure. Lol

Just make sure it wont free port under the piston if you lower the bottom of the exhaust port.

The MS1838AV is a vertical cylinder model isn't it? I had an MS2050AV that had over 200 PSI compression and it actually ran quite well.

No. Its horizontal. Carb is on top. And the mufler is just behind the clutch drum.

I'll post back here when the piston ring gets to me. Everything is done. Just waiting on that.
