got one of those prime weld tig units as my dial arc hf went, only used a couple times seems nice got more asdustments than you can shake 5 fingers at.
don't be afraid to have the "old dialarc" looked at for repairs. Sometimes its an easy fix. Sometimes ya just want sumptin "new".

You all have some nice rigs...I started out with a little buzz box from HF....would overheat and trip in no time...spent more time waiting for it to cool off than welding....I finally found this beast at a yard sale for $35....It's everything I need and want....So heavy it has wheels....Never overheats....welds and welds and welds....Lately I've been trying my hand at brazing with a mapp gas torch and finding it fun and satisfying....Each has their place....

One thing with the old dial arc 250hf-- man it sucks the juice- course you can burn for just about forever vs the new box , but the new box is inverter tech and can be run just about any where- 110/220 1 ph and only weighs apx 50#vs the dial arc -need fork lift , with a 200 amp top end. the new box combined with a Ready welder 2 covers every base tig mig stick ac/dc . Sooo, anyone have any experience with the new miller millermatic 255, or multimatic 255?? I just ordered the multimatic 255. I have heard good things but have yet to see one in person. The millermatic 255 is supposedly the updated millermatic 252, and weighs less than half as much (about 85lbs) making it a lot more portable. Can also run more heat and faster wire speeds. Also has a pulse mig setting, and a bunch of other new fancy settings. The multimatic 255 (which is what i ordered) can also do arc, and dc tig. It is also only about 300$ more than a new 252. I am excited to play around with this guy! I have been welding for quite a while in work settings but this is my first ever personal welder. I have always just used a work welder for personal projects.. haha! Sooo, anyone got any time with a new miller 255?

Got my multimatic 255 finally. Spent a few hours each the last couple days of quarantine playing around with it making a cart for it to set on. I have to say, its pretty smooth! Only done mig with it so far, but it seems a lot easier to dial in and is more consistent than the 252 i am used to running. Going to pick up some rod this week and see how well it burns stick. Hopefully in the next month or so ill pick up the tig kit. Also want to get a push pull gun for it and work on a couple aluminum projects i been wanting to get to. So far, its a winner!EDD71D67-EC02-406F-9260-17C88D5E8804.jpeg

Ok dont laugh. This think is tiny as heck.

My son came up to me last week and said he wanted to buy a stick welder so i said cool. Find one and ill go half with you. So he orders one on amazon and i look at it after and look at the measurment and says to him. This thing is gonna be junk. Its barly taller then a pop can.
Well thing comes in today and we go iut and play and my gosh. Good things come in little packages lol. This is acually quite impressive.
First we tried it plugged into my shed( i use ling cord and loose some amps) and couldnt really get it to start. So fired up the generator and holy crap. I welded some light stuff and seemed good. Then crank the heat and shes like a torch lol. Grab some half inch flat steel and you can see it melting almost half way through.
Only isue i have is it even trips my generators breaker.

Also whats the difference between 6011 and 6013 rods. It calls for 6013 or 7018.
Napa never had any 6013 so i grabbed 6011. They didnt really know what tjmhe numbers meant either.

I started with a 1955 SA200 Shorthood. With my service calls we do I needed a machine to run AC tools. So this machine got replaced with a Bobcat. I still cant weld worth a chit but i can power up my house with the Bobcat during a power outage.

Still the old dc600 with this even older ln8 feeder....

35$ auction purchase, with cables. Put over 3k worth of wire through it these last couple months. Figure it was worth the 35$ lol
