What 36” bar for my 395xp

Here’s a better picture with the chains lined up best I could with .404 raiseman full comp on top, 3/8 full skip stihl in middle, then 3/8 oregon full comp. I am wondering if there is slight variation between chain brands. I’m sure there is. Just another VARIABLE for us to argue about. Lol. I think the improved chip clearance of the .404 I’m noticing is mostly from the larger cutter size maybe? Wider kerf?

3/8 Stihl cutters are slightly smaller than Oregon 3/8 cutters. Stihl even recommends a smaller 13/64 file. I use the 7/32 anyway, but that’s just an example. Stihl .325 and Oregon .325 seem to be slightly different as well. I’m just curious if there is difference among .404 cutters since I have not compared any?

Cutters might be longer, taller, or wider. But they’re all the same distance from one cutter to the next

The cutter size must be what I am noticing with it affecting chip clearance then if it isn’t distance between cutters? Tie straps seem to vary a little but I don’t think that would affect chip clearance?

No idea. But .404 means .404” from rivet to rivet. So that would remain the same regardless

Ok so .404 is the one constant but everything else can be different?

Height and kerf on .404 are both more than 3/8

comstock logging has some Tsumura 36 Husky Lightweight bars. Tsumura makes great bars and comstock logging has the best prices Ive found

+1 on Comstock pricing. I get all my Tsumuras from them. And for the OP, I’ve found that Tsumura are the best balance between Lightness and rigidity. User preference of course, but I feel stihl and Oregon light weight bars are too floppy. Different strokes

I ordered one this morning. I agree, can’t beat that price, $125 shipped for a lightweight bar. Thank you both for the tip. If definitive Dave ever responds to me, I’ll order a cannon from him in 404

I'm gonna have to visit that store. Be nice to have a good 28" for the 394. That said, the Husky branded 36" I've been using has taken alot of abuse and is holding up well. You've seen what I use it in

Tsumura Light works great for few times I need 36 on MMWS 661, otherwise 24"

Yep

be prepared for a drive link count change, at least for husky. I believe when i changed my hisky 36 for a tsumara drive link count went up 4.
That was the only thing that i didnt like about the change, but the bar is slightly wider in the middle and is a far superior product than the husky IMO
