I bought my tanks early 1980s. Think how much "rent" I've saved! You can own and get the full sized tanks refilled here.
Must be nice, lol. It all depends on the supplier around here. You can, but if you don’t use enough, and get hit with a hydro test, you might as well rent. I have the “Q” sized tanks and own them, but they swap out. If you own bigger tanks, they send to fill and you get yours back. That’s when running out of date hurts you. Businesses can purchase tanks easier than homeowners. No idea why.

These were the largest I could buy, larger and you have to rent them, at least around here. I have had this set since 2017. May take them in yo exchange just to make sure I have it when I need it. Mostly just use to braze. Occasionally I have to cut something apart.

Come to think of it, my argon bottle is the same thing. I don't tig too often, but it is nice to have handy.
Who do you use down that way? Holston is who I generally use or A Welders/Volunteer in Knoxville. They’ll sell and fill whatever but you are responsible for hydro when it needs it.

I last went to holston in Athens. Been a while though. As little as I use, I assume I will need the hydro every time I need more.
