The contractor had some vinyl laminate flooring left over from another project and finished off the floor in the upstairs bathroom.

I liked it so well I went out and bought enough to do the kitchen/library/office area downstairs. He says they will get it installed next week.

Good to see the museum coming along.
Interested to see how well a vinyl floor holds up on top of wood framing.
Seems ok on the slab floor here.
Elsewhere, I've got a wood frame with crawl space bathroom (bath tub etc) that needs tearing out and rebuilt. All ceramic tile floor and walls.
Thus why I'm curious about the vinyl on wood in a potential splash zone.

I would stick with ceramic tile in splash zones. I have vinyl in my kitchen now (vinyl over wood) and had a slow leak from the dishwasher, caused the wood to bubble in spots pushing up on the vinyl. It isn't noticeable to look at, but you can feel it when you walk on it.

In my old house (concrete slab foundation) I wanted to put tile in the dining room, by was vetoed and had to put vinyl in. After a couple of years you could see where the kids were scooting their chairs back and ended up scratching the crap out of the floor. Vinyl seems to work fine in the living room, hallways and bed rooms, but everywhere else there was things (furniture, boxes...etc) moving around quite a bit it seemed to wear on the vinyl.

I figure the upstairs bathroom won't get a lot of traffic, floors are pretty solid. Sure looks better than the Advantech...

Mark
That is 100% true.
It is a upstairs bathroom in a building not a the only bathroom in a home of 5 kids.
I also bet it is a toilet and hand sink.
If folks get enough "splash" on the floor then maybe they should go outside

I've heard that some Facebook dwellers think my prices are incredibly high, but when I compare with eBay I am normally more reasonable.

Museum is located in Dike, Iowa, if you can find Main Street you can find my buildings (603/609).
