We are nearly finished now with week 7 of polishing the concrete up front and it still looks terrible. Contractor won't return my calls, basically everything else is at a stand still waiting on the floors. Sometimes I feel like crying...

If you prepaid, it sounds like it's time to pull his bond if you have one.

Just terrible. If you haven’t met Mark in person, he is easily one of the nicest people you will ever meet.
Hope you can work out some resolution or plan B for the floor finish. As others have mentioned, there is no excuse for evading you and not making this right

Like most small towns in the Midwest, our town of Dike, IA has a festival of sorts called Watermelon days with a parade, vendors, games & rides, even watermelon...

I was able to get my large McCulloch sign up on the building on Friday, and put a few saws out front to help demonstrate what is to be. My son stopped by mid-morning and I showed him how the alarm works. The floor contractor put some sealer on the polished floor on Friday but I don't think that is going to resolve the issues.

The issue with the floor sounds as if wrong or poor quality material was used and the contractor is trying to fix it without renewing the floor.

Did the contractor do the floor, or is he only doing the finish?

Somebody send Mark an old big a$$ Sachs-Dolmar sign! :)

The general contractor poured the floor, a different contractor was responsible for the polishing...there was some finger pointing.

They buffed out the sealer, applied a second coat and buffed it again, actually looks pretty good so I turned them loose on the other parts of the building. The center section will be a kitchen/dining area, bedroom with master bath (for those that want to spend a night in the museum), and my office in the closest I could come to McCulloch Pro Mac yellow. The floor is painted with a metallic filled epoxy. It is a bit dusty from construction activity so you will just have to come see it in person to get the full effect.

The shop area is a more conventional epoxy with flakes. They put a nice sealer on top and it is looking pretty good.

The kitchen cabinets are within the confines of the building. I should see some nice progress next week.

Kitchen cabinets are going in, one small snag with the corner cabinet...should have been 39" tall but in came in at 36". The carpenter working on the cabinets had to cut some holes in the wall looking for some low voltage wires for the under cabinet lighting.

Another helper was assembling the base cabinets for the shop and getting them in place. The plumbers put up the hose reels, and are working on the bathrooms.

Some progress over the weekend, I was too busy doing other things to notice.

The countertop/benchtop for the shop is in place now but not fastened down yet. Here they are on the floor in the display area before they were installed.
