I had basically the same thing and as matter of fact got the books yesterday .It kind of confused me because it started out in Cincinnati Ohio to Columbus where it had sat for maybe close to two weeks . It was probably a drop shift thing from a seller in Michigan .

I'm still waiting on a few parts and a chainsaw that all shipped 6+ weeks ago. All disappeared off the map. At this point I'm assuming I'm getting another gfy from life and I'll never see any of it.

Just gonna throw my two cents in here...

We mainly use USPS for all of our shipping as it is the most economical for small parts by wide margin. We can ship a customer something small for around the $3-5 mark. Everybody wins this way. UPS and FedEx entry rates around in the $7-8 range. UPS can get heavier stuff there cheaper usually, but we're in the business of mainly stuff under a pound.

In my experience the USPS has provided fantastic service on a logistics level and also on a personal level time and again and the service is worth it's weight in gold. It helps us be competitive in the market and generally has a 99% or better on-time and undamaged rate for us. The customers also get to reap the benefit of the savings. The last two months have just been a challenge for myriad reasons. UPS, FedEx and Amazon can contractually dump their "last mile" mail into the USPS if they want and that's exactly what they did with some things this year. Those courier services couldn't keep up with the volume either but at least had an "out."

The people working for them pick up at our shop daily and in our local city and they are working their tail off to get all the pieces of the puzzle together. Our local sort center in Warrendale, PA (one of the largest volume in the country) has experienced quadruple volume (people are shipping more things because they aren't going out and sending gifts because they won't gather this year) and also had positivity rates of the virus in the employees all at the same time. Sounds like a landslide of abnormal things all hitting them at once.

Having worked in management in the grocery industry before taking this power equipment stuff full time I experienced first hand the original panic buying of the pandemic beginning in March all the way through July,. The department I managed typically was doing about $45k in gross sales on an average week and we immediately went to over $100k in gross sales as I was recovering from COVID-19 myself. Had it early March, it SUCKED. I had a staff of 8 and had 3 senior citizen employees defer and opt to take time off in order to keep themselves safe. So here we are doing double the volume with half the staff. Typically we were always able in the past to get everything set up for the next day so we could stay ahead of the curve as far as demand and overall department conditions, but after these critical changes we were in a totally different state of affairs. Instead of walking into full shelves each day that could sustain demand while we prepared more product we would enter each day into a completely empty department. This created compounded systemic issues and robbed us of some of our efficiencies. Similarly I think the USPS is facing compounding issues as discussed prior. Hopefully they are able to gain some ground in the next couple weeks.

If it makes you feel any better at all we've seen some things that got hung up right after Thanksgiving start to get delivered in the last week....

LOL, it still stinks, though

My stuffs were expected to take a short trip upstate to me.
USPS sent them on a tour to CA and Indiana and back to NJ.
Pick up pending...
A short 2 months wait that even Dall's new shipping service could beat!

my buddy’s wife ordered something dec 8 and another package Monday
He got both Wednesday
When they leave stuff in trailers for a month that could be medicines or something critical
They are not doing their job
First packages to arrive at a sorting plant should have priority not stuff from ups FedEx or amazon
They act like the big companies rule and *s-word on the little guys

Had some orders from Ebay (admittedly across the pond) from Nov. 14, 2020 that arrived yesterday.
The packages looked haggled as if they were held hostage and abused a bit. But thankful they finally came.

It turns out there is more to it than just packages . I had two late payments, one actually lost of first class mail that went through Columbus Ohio .It really irks me because I've never been late of paying my bills in my entire life time . I've contacted both Verizon and Spectrum and tried to explain it and both have said it's happening from all over the USA . I could point the finger of fate but I'll keep politics off this forum .
