Honestly when was the last time anybody heard anything good about working for the post office?
I have a good relationship with my local letter carrier; he likes his job. I know guys that retired from the USPS; said the job had lots of 'politics' like any other large organization, aside from the government politics, but otherwise liked the job, benefits, etc. I worked with a retired postal inspector who had lots of stories that I would never have imagined being connected to his job; a lot more that forging coupons or phony sweepstakes entries. I thought his job could be a TV show: sort of like Cliff Clavin meets NCIS.

It's important. We depend on it. It's not perfect. I would like to see problems addressed and the service continue.

I'd just like to start getting what I paid for in life. Being charged for 2-3 day delivery and being told its going to be delivered whenever we feel like it sounds like fraud or scam territory or whatever you want to call it especially when the other package handling outfits figured it out. I think when this is over the usps is going to be facing some lawsuits

Full time employees are the exception, I know delivery drivers who waited 17yrs to get full time and have known plenty of part time employees who only work holidays. Its not really a secret that their union is in shambles. My experience with taking to employees is opposite from yours.

“Keep in mind that Priority Mail is not a guaranteed date-specific delivery service. Since most Priority Mail packages are delivered within 2 days, the USPS has added estimated delivery dates on the shipping label to help communication between the shipper and the package recipient.”

“ Unlike First Class Mail or Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express has a money-back guarantee if your mailpiece is not delivered by the promised time. The money-back guarantee is contingent on a number of factors including the package drop-off time as well as the origin and destination zip codes.”

From USPS website. bold emphasis is theirs.

any excuse they can use they will
covid
the weather
holiday season
weve all seen the thing about experiencing longer delivery times because this or that hurricane or snow storm
even in areas not effected by the weather

Having watched the destruction of USPS the last year I have been glad to be in Canada. Until today... I heard this morning that as of 6pm yesterday our local postal DC had over 100 semi trailers of mail and parcels waiting to be sorted.
This DC services 2 provinces roughly 2.5 million people. Apparently some of these trailers were hauled back to Calgary, resorted and then sent back with 70 or 80% the same load...

Thankfully everything I ordered arrived before Christmas, I am glad I haven’t tried shipping anything recently.

I am actually glad that nothing is likely to show up here tomorrow: we are in the middle of a blizzard, and anything left on the porch . . . . .

Got a package ordered Dec 7, and its been sitting in the hub 30 miles from here since Dec 16 -- other stuff was ordered later
and is already here from farther away. No rhyme nor reason -- just slackers I reckon.

This package that sat in the hub for 8 days moved last night on the tracking around 1:30am. Will be interesting to see how many days it takes to make one trip to the post office and one
out here to the house. Merry Christmas. Hope you guys are not waiting on anything crucial to come today

As of today I have a set of books for my grand sons birthday that has sat in Columbus Ohio and never moved in over a week .My lady friend who resides with me received a letter yesterday dated Dec 11 .So yes the knee capping of the postal system sorting machines has had effect on the mail .As for Canada I've shipped stuff into Canada and it takes two weeks to go a little over 200 miles via Canada post .In normal times via USPS it takes 3 days from here to Florida or the PNW and 4 days via airmail to Australia .--these are not normal times we live in right now .

Well you know they do get paid by the hour and they do get over time . Maybe they should revive the pony express, lots of unemployed horses you know, plus blacksmiths to forge horse shoes and farriers to put them on. From an environmental concern road apples are eco friendly ,oil slicks are not .Win win situation .

Heard the same thing. Apparently this year they really screwed up the hiring of seasonal workers also.

I’m wondering if the usps union is equipped to deal with all the grievances it’s gonna get lol

if you dont understand what i said maybe you should educate yourself more
they have people that call in saying they are sick just to get out of work
thus making the rest of them get forced to work 12s
doesnt matter about the paid by the hour *B-S....
if you dont have the manpower to do the work the work doesnt get done
not sure what you are really implying but when you say the kneecapping is taking away sorting machines you are trying to make it political
which when you have lazy mother frenchies who wont show up for work is what is kneecapping the usps

What would you suggest then ? Fire them all and start over maybe ? Maybe privatize the whole postal service and do away with any unions what so ever ? -----I'm going to back off this because it will get political very fast going down that road .

lmao your the one making it political
and yes fire the ones who will only show up one day a month
i am a union boilermaker so its nothing to do with that
if you think im gonna take up for lazy mother frenchies who dont show up to work or show up so stoned they are a danger to me or themselves yes im all for taking out the trash

as i said it would take a act of congress to do away with the usps maybe you need to educate yourself more before you run off at the mouth
