I’m going through some parts and cannot figure out what cylinder this is

It’s pretty wild as there is no exhaust port in thinking it’s a factory blank or something

It has only exhaust and transfer ports. It is for a reed valves engine.

Yes, I agree...XL12 or Super XL - should be 46mm. I have a Super XL, but have not taken it apart yet....that would have thrown me not having a dedicated intake and exhaust ports

Exhaust. Homelite was a fan of bridged exhaust ports.

Looks like the fuel goes through the carb to #17 (Crankcase) and then drops into the crankcase and gets pumped into the cylinder through the transfers and then exhausts from there.

Yeah the reed block is mounted on the crankcase. The carb and other intake parts mount to the reed block. It was a pretty common design back then.

I guess if I included this too, it would help visual learners like me! #4 is the reed valve seat and #5 is the reed valve, mounts inline with the carb and crankcase. Makes more sense now!

Echo is still selling the CS-303T, which is the only new saw being produced that I know of that is still using a reed valve.
