EDIT : two saws in the field firewood plan.

Recently felling and cutting firewood I stumbled into a recipe I like. Smaller (lighter) saw with a longer bar, not too aggressive chain (skip for longer bars) for felling. 461 for me in this case. Once on the ground, much larger saw with a more aggressive “cookie” chain, full comp, maybe 8 pin, little shorter bar. 2188 for me in this case.

I kinda have a similar setup when I’m logging: I typically fell and limb with my 462’s because they are light and have a lot of chain speed. When it comes time for bucking, I generally grab my modded 460 because it has that grunt that I can lean into with the rakers lowered a bit and let it eat wood quickly. And if the logs are big enough, then I buck with the TM661.

2188 is only a pound heavier than a 461. With a 32” on the 461 and a 28” on the 2188, they weigh almost the same.

That’s just how it turned out this time…more about the setups than the weight. The 461 had a 30” skip and the 2188 a 28” Xcut with the rakers low. The 461 is a grunt saw and the 2188 is ported fast…way faster bucking setup.

It’s up to 22m. Yesterday my son was watching a video and they said something about hitting 10,000 followers…I think I have 25,000 for looking like a noob. 😆
Imagine if in your next video you say "Oh sh!t" and the camera pans over to a flat cat under your tree... 🤣

2 saw plan
Whatever's on top of the stack in the shop
Usually a ported 266 and a zoo city 372
Or any variation of ported Husqvarna, jonsereds
70cc 266,268,272,371,372,2171,2172
I have like 30 of them.
Not much heavier to me than pissy little 50 and 60cc saws that just dissapoint.

You need an XS 346. First 50cc that felt like it was pulling.
